Absolute Shear Magic is a hidden gem of a beauty salon. This past Saturday I took two small children, ages four and six, for their first haircuts given by a beautician or barber. Yes, it is a long and very sad story. Anyway, the children, especially the four year old girl, were very sensitive about their hair. The girl only allowed her father and a day care director to touch her hair. She had been traumatized in the past. Nonetheless, the children immediately felt comfortable in Tina's marvelous salon, which is more decorated for Halloween than most elementary school classrooms. Tina offered the children candy and was exceptionally kind and patient as the boy chatted, and chatted, and chatted. Sharon Brown, a terrific beautician, trimmed the little girl's hair, and the girl's smile grew larger with every clip of the scissors. She complimented the child on her large dark eyes, previously hidden by an unruly mop. The child beamed. Next the boy sat down, slightly anxious, but quickly assured by Tina. Two happy kids left the salon with great haircuts at a reasonable price. I highly recommend Absolute Shear Magic.
